Tsavo East National Park is one of Kenya’s oldest and largest national parks, covering vast plains, volcanic landscapes, riverine forests, and open savannah. It is famously known as the “Theatre of the Wild.”
The park is best known for its iconic dust-red elephants, which coat themselves in the park’s rich red soil. The Galana River, lined with palms and wildlife, creates some of the most memorable safari scenes in Africa.
Tsavo East is also home to the Yatta Plateau, the world’s longest lava flow stretching nearly 300 km. With abundant wildlife, dramatic scenery, and excellent game viewing, it offers a classic East African safari experience.

Large prides are regularly seen throughout the park.

Elusive predators often spotted near riverine habitats.
African Buffalo
Large herds gather around water sources and grasslands.
Hippopotamus
Frequently found in the Galana River and Aruba Dam.

Dry season with excellent wildlife viewing around rivers and waterholes.

Warm, dry conditions and great opportunities for photography.
November – December
Green landscapes, migratory birds, and fewer visitors.
